Weight and Bicycling

Today is the first time I recall weighing since my main computer died a while back. 280. That puts me up about 35 pounds in a year. The suit I wore to my almost 17 year old little sister's QuinceaƱera is too snug now. Ug.

Of course, had I gained these 35 pounds on top of my high of 389 I'd really be in rough shape. It's good I lost 145 pounds before gaining 35 back but it's still past time for me to get back to regular work outs and calorie discipline. 240 extra calories a day and inconsistent workouts for a year add up...

So, I rode my bike to work today. The route I took was about four miles. While riding past East High, I stood up on the pedals to accelerate quickly and one bent. Luckily, the pedal didn't bust off until I was four blocks away from the office. Anyone know a bike shop that does house calls?

Nonexistent workouts

OK. Now I'm totally sloughing on the activity front. I need to start working out again. So, I've joined a group competition/activity with a bunch of coworkers to see if that won't spur me. On the upside, I've been fairly disciplined about food choices so at least I'm trending the right way again after being less than good over the holidays.

I was sick of being sore from running and a little concerned that I'm causing long term damage to the joints. Thinking about joining the Y and giving the elliptical a try. Also debating about lifting one day a week which is something I haven't done in forever. It all starts next week, so wish me luck!
