First Week Back - 335

So far, calorie discipline, good. Workout discipline, bad.

The trend calculations are nice for flattening out temporary water weight but they are a pain when you are losing fast. 10.0 or 1.9 pounds loss in the first week, depending on how you look at it.

Stepped on the scale after I realized my pants were way, way too tight the other day. Yes indeedy, turns out I've gained a hundred pounds in roughly two years.

Started up again yesterday. Only 3 push ups and 15 sit-ups after 45 minutes and three on an elliptical. Pretty sore after. Next workout day is Monday.

Counting calories again too.

It is past time to get back to in shape and so I will.

Weight and Bicycling

Today is the first time I recall weighing since my main computer died a while back. 280. That puts me up about 35 pounds in a year. The suit I wore to my almost 17 year old little sister's QuinceaƱera is too snug now. Ug.

Of course, had I gained these 35 pounds on top of my high of 389 I'd really be in rough shape. It's good I lost 145 pounds before gaining 35 back but it's still past time for me to get back to regular work outs and calorie discipline. 240 extra calories a day and inconsistent workouts for a year add up...

So, I rode my bike to work today. The route I took was about four miles. While riding past East High, I stood up on the pedals to accelerate quickly and one bent. Luckily, the pedal didn't bust off until I was four blocks away from the office. Anyone know a bike shop that does house calls?

Nonexistent workouts

OK. Now I'm totally sloughing on the activity front. I need to start working out again. So, I've joined a group competition/activity with a bunch of coworkers to see if that won't spur me. On the upside, I've been fairly disciplined about food choices so at least I'm trending the right way again after being less than good over the holidays.

I was sick of being sore from running and a little concerned that I'm causing long term damage to the joints. Thinking about joining the Y and giving the elliptical a try. Also debating about lifting one day a week which is something I haven't done in forever. It all starts next week, so wish me luck!

Inconsistent Workouts

I need to start getting up at 6am and working out regularly again. It just doesn't happen if I don't do it before heading in to the office.

Rather than committing acts of lung pollution, I've been eating. The SO and I tend to eat something a little special (Thai, Pizza, Indian, or some other calorie laden food) on homecoming nights. That happened on Wed night this week instead of Friday night. And, of course, a great Thanksgiving gathering added a few calories.

Up 3 week over week. More importantly, 3.4 over the trendline and uptrending .4 in a day. That's ugly. I was once a man on a mission. I am now a man distracted.

Additional comment: The treadmill says the workout today is the best calorie burn since Dec 31st.

Actual weight-loss 3.6. More realistic trend-line loss is 1.3 which indicates I ate about 4500 calories less than I burned this week. That's about right. No lung pollution for three days now.

I need to start making progress. On the upside, I actually worked out this week again. On the downside my cardio is weak-- especially my lungs-- and I'm still way, way behind where I was in March.
